Jessica Cohen

Jessica Cohen (lahir 1973) adalah penerjemah keturunan Inggris-Israel. dia berbagi penghargaan Man Booker International Prize untuk penerjemahan novel karya David Grossman terbitan 2014 berjudul A Horse Walks Into a Bar.[1][2]

Latar belakang

Cohen lahir di Colchester, Inggris, puteri dari Stanley Cohen dan Ruth Kretzmer pada 1973.[3] Dia pindah bersama keluarganya ke Israel pada usia tujuh tahun dan belajar sastra Inggris di Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Setelah pindah ke Amerika Serikat bersama suaminya pada tahun 1997, dia belajar Bahasa dan Sastra Timur Tengah di Indiana University.[4]

Cohen telah menerjemahkan beberapa buku berbahasa Ibrani ke dalam bahasa Inggris, antara lain karya-karya Nir Baram, David Grossman, Amir Gutfreund, Yael Hedaya, Ronit Matalon, Rutu Modan, Dorit Rabinyan, Tom Segev dan Nava Semel. Saat ini dia tinggal di Denver, Colorado.[5][6]
