John Rex Whinfield
John Rex Whinfield CBE (16 Februari 1901 di Sutton, Surrey, Inggris – 6 Juli 1966 di Dorking, Surrey) adalah seorang ahli kimia Inggris. Bersama dengan James Tennant Dickson, Whinfield meneliti poliester dan menghasilkan serta mematenkan serat poliester pertama pada tahun 1941, yang mereka namai Terylene (juga dikenal sebagai Dacron). Terylene memiliki ketangguhan dan ketahanan yang setara atau bahkan melebihi nilon.
