Jura Awal

Jura Awal adalah kala pertama dari periode Jura, yang dimulai pada 201.3 juta tahun lalu, hingga 174 juta tahun lalu.
Jura awal dimulai setelah peristiwa kepunahan Trias-Jura. Batuannya terbentuk di bentukan Lias Biru (Stratum-stratum yang berasal dari Periode Jura, yang terbuentuk di Inggris dan Wales), yang terdiri dari sebagian besar batugamping, dengan beberapa tanah liat dan batulanau. Salahsatu contoh tempat terbentuknya Lias Biru adalah di Pantai Jura, Dorset, yaitu tempat di mana Mary Anning menghabiskan sebagian besar waktunya.
Di kala ini, banyak spesies dari periode Trias sudah punah.
