Kalsium benzoat mengacu pada garam kalsium dari asam benzoat. Ketika digunakan dalam industri makanan sebagai bahan pengawet, nomor E-nya adalah E213 (nomor INS 213); disetujui untuk digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan pangan di Uni Eropa,[1] Amerika Serikat dan Australia serta Selandia Baru.[2]
Rumus dan struktur turunan kalsium karboksilat dari kalsium dan logam terkait bersifat kompleks. Umumnya bilangan koordinasinya adalah delapan, dan karboksilat membentuk ikatan Ca-O. Variabel lainnya adalah derajat hidrasi.[3]
