Kandidiasis oral (juga disebut kandidiasis pseudomembranosa akut atau kandidiasis mulut)[1] adalah kandidiasis yang terjadi di mulut. Dengan kata lain, kandidiasis oral adalah mikosis (infeksi khamir/jamur) dari spesies Candida pada membran mukosa mulut.
Candida albicans adalah organisme yang paling sering terlibat dalam kondisi ini. C. albicans terdapat di mulut sekitar 50% populasi dunia sebagai komponen normal dari mikrobiota oral.[3] Keadaan pembawaan Candida ini tidak dianggap sebagai penyakit, tetapi ketika spesies Candida menjadi patogen dan menyerang jaringan inang, kandidiasis oral dapat terjadi. Perubahan ini biasanya merupakan infeksi oportunistik oleh mikroorganisme yang biasanya tidak berbahaya karena faktor lokal (yaitu mukosa) atau sistemik yang mengubah kekebalan inang.
