Karl Anton atau Karel Anton (25 Oktober 1898 – 12 April 1979) adalah seorang sutradara, penulis naskah dan produser Jerman kelahiran Bohemia.[1]
Biografi
Ia lahir di Praha pada 25 Oktober 1898. Ayahnya Wilhelm Anton (1861–1918) adalah seorang dokter.[2] Anton belajar kedokteran, tetapi meninggalkan sekolah usai kematian ayahnya.[2] Ia mulai menjadi pemeran dan pengarah panggung di Wina, Linz dan Praha. Ia menyutradarai film perdananya, Gypsies, pada 1921. Ia mendirikan perusahaan produksi miliknya sendiri Antonfilm (1923–30) dan Sonorfilm (1930–32).[2]
Setelah kesukesan internasional Tonka of the Gallows, ia berkarya di Paris untuk Paramount Pictures dan kemudian pindah ke Jerman untuk berkarya dengan Tobis Film.[2]
Ia meninggal di Berlin, Jerman pada 1979. Pemeran Ceko Raoul Schránil adalah sepupunya.[2]
