Kefira
Kefira (bahasa Inggris: Chephirah) adalah salah satu dari empat kota-kota yang disebut dalam Kitab Yosua 9:17 bersama dengan Gibeon, Beerot, dan Kiryat-Yearim. Konteks ceritanya menjelaskan perjanjian perdamaian antara Israel dan orang Hewi penduduk asli wilayah Kanaan. Kefira muncul lagi pada Yosua 18:26 sebagai salah satu kota yang diberikan kepada Suku Benyamin.
Tidak ada peristiwa lain yang patut dicatat di Kefira selama ratusan tahun sampai tempat itu disebutkan lagi di bagian-bagian paralel dari Ezra 2:25, Nehemia 7:29, dan kitab apokrif 1 Esdras 5:19. Di sini konteksnya bukan dari lokasi, tetapi dari keluarga yang sebelumnya tinggal di sana sebelum menjadi tawanan ke Babel. Orang-orang Kefira dikelompokkan bersama-sama dengan orang-orang dari Beerot dan Kiryat-Yearim, tapi keluarga-keluarga orang Gibeon disebut terpisah.
Identifikasi
Lokasi Kefira sekarang dikenal sebagai "Khirbet el-Kafira".[1]
