Konklaf pada 18 Februari – 17 Agustus 1740, yang diadakan setelah kematian Paus Klemens XII pada 6 Februari 1740, adalah salah satu konklaf terpanjang sejak abad ke-13.
Prospero Lambertini, Uskup Agung Bologna, yang menjadi Kardinal sejak 9 Desember 1726, terpilih menjadi Paus ke-247 Gereja Romawi Suci, menggunakan nama Benediktus XIV.
