La Mosquitia adalah bagian paling timur Honduras di sepanjang Pesisir Mosquito, yang terbentang di timur laut Nicaragua.[1] Ini adalah kawasan hutan hujan tropis, savana pinus dan rawa yang biasanya diakses lewat air dan udara. Populasinya meliputi kelompok etnis dan pribumi seperti suku Miskito, Pech, Rama, Sumo, Garífuna, Ladino, dan Creole.[2] La Mosquitia adalah wilayah alam liar terbesar di Amerika Tengah, yang meliputi rawa hutan bakau, laguna, sungai, savana dan hutan hujan tropis. Cagar Alam Río Plátano, sebuah Situs Warisan Dunia, adalah bagian dari La Mosquitia.[2][3]
