Lagostomus adalah genus hewan pengerat asal Amerika Selatan dalam famili Chinchillidae. Genus ini hanya memiliki satu spesies sintas, yaitu viscacha dataran, dan merupakan satu-satunya genus Holosen dalam subfamili Lagostominae. Kemungkinan hanya ada satu spesies lainnya yang masih hidup; takson Lagostomus crassus mungkin tidak sah.[3]
