Laut Islandia adalah sebuah perairan kecil yang dibatasi oleh zona fraktur Jan Mayen di sebelah utara, Greenland di sebelah barat, Selat Denmark di sebelah selatan, dan Rabung Jan Mayen di sebelah timur. Kedalamannya berkisar antara 500 sampai 2.000 meter tetapi bisa lebih dangkal di landas benua di Greenland Timur. Rabung Kolbeinsey melintasi Laut Islandia, membaginya menjadi bagian timur dan barat.[1]
Kehidupan laut
Banyak spesies anjing laut dan paus yang hidup di perairan dingin di lepas pantai Islandia utara.
