Lophelia pertusa, satu-satunya spesies dalam genus Lophelia,[2][3] adalah sebuah karang air dingin yang tumbuh di perairan dalam di sepanjang samudra Atlantik Utara, serta sebagian Laut Karibia dan Laut Alboran.[4] Karang L. pertusa adalah tempat dari keragaman hayati. Namun, spesies tersebut bertumbuh sangat lambat dan dapat hancur oleh praktik-praktik perikanan yang merusak, atau pengambilan dan penyedotan minyak.
