Morchella esculenta (nama lain: morel kuning, jamur spons, morel pirang) adalah salah satu spesies jamur yang dapat dikonsumsi dari golongan ascomycota.[1][2] Jamur ini memiliki tubuh buah dengan ukuran 6,5–18 cm, sedangkan spora yang dimilikinya berukuran 20-26 x 12-16 µm.[1] M. esculenat dapat ditemukan hidup sendiri, tetapi lebih sering berkelompok atau berkeruman dalam suatu berbagai habitat, terutama pada batu kapur.[2] Jamur ini memiliki tangkai berwarna putih-pucat yang menopang tubuh buah tebal berwarna kuning kecoklatan hingga kuning langsat, dan seringpula ditemukan warna coklat gelap.[2] Bagian batang berbentuk silindris dengan bagian bawah (dasar) membesar dan berongga saat matang.[1] Spora berbentuk elips lebar, halus, dan hialin (berwarna kuning).[1]
