Bayer designation adalah stellar designation di mana bintang tertentu diidentifikasi dengan Yunani atau huruf Latin diikuti dengan bentuk genitive dari nama Latin konstelasi induk. Daftar asli penunjukan Bayer berisi 1.564 bintang. Bintang-bintang yang lebih terang diberi nama sistematis pertama mereka oleh astronom Johann Bayer Jerman pada tahun 1603, dalam atlas bintangnya Uranometria.
