Ngengat kubis (Mamestra brassicae) umumnya dikenal sebagai hama yang bertanggung jawab atas kerusakan tanaman besar pada sebagian besar spesies tumbuhan. Nama umumnya, ngengat kubis, adalah kekeliruan karena spesies tersebut menyantap banyak buah, sayur dan tanaman dalam genus Brassica (seperti kubis, brokoli, kubis brussel).[1] Tanaman inang terkenal lainnya meliputi tembakau, bunga matahari, dan tomat, menjadikannya spesies hama yang membuat kerusakan yang menonjol secara ekonomi.[2]
