Novel romansa atau novel romantis adalah karya fiksi populer yang berfokus pada hubungan dan kisah cinta antara dua tokoh, biasanya diakhiri dengan penutup yang emosional memuaskan atau bernuansa optimistis. Beberapa penulis yang berperan penting dalam perkembangan genre ini antara lain Samuel Richardson, Frances Burney, Maria Edgeworth, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Emily Brontë, dan Anne Brontë.
Novel romansa mencakup berbagai subgenre, seperti fantasi, kontemporer, romansa sejarah, fiksi paranormal, romansa sesama perempuan (sapphic), hingga fiksi ilmiah. Cerita-cerita dalam genre ini sering memanfaatkan pola naratif tertentu, misalnya “dari musuh menjadi kekasih” (enemies to lovers), “kesempatan kedua” (second chance), atau “kedekatan yang dipaksakan” (forced proximity). Meskipun secara tradisional pembaca utama novel romansa dianggap perempuan, sebuah studi tahun 2017 yang dilakukan oleh Romance Writers of America menunjukkan bahwa laki-laki menyumbang sekitar 18% dari pembeli buku romansa.[1]
