OPS 9794


OPS 9794, juga dikenal sebagai Navstar 8, GPS I-8 dan GPS SVN-8, adalah satelit navigasi Amerika diluncurkan pada tahun 1983 sebagai bagian dari program pengembangan Global Positioning System. Itu kedelapan dari sebelas satelit Blok I GPS yang diluncurkan.[1]

OPS 9794 diluncurkan di 10:21 UTC pada 14 Juli 1983 di atas sebuah kapal roket Atlas E/F dengan tahap atas SGS-2. Atlas digunakan memiliki nomor seri 75E, dan pada awalnya dibangun sebagai Atlas E. Peluncuran berlangsung dari Space Launch Complex 3W di Vandenberg Air Force Base, dan OPS 9794 ditempatkan ke orbit transfer. Satelit mengangkat dirinya menjadi media orbit Bumi menggunakan apogee motor Star-27.
