Onkosit

Onkosit (bahasa Inggris: oncocyte, oxyphilic cell, askenazy cell) adalah sel apitelial unik dengan sitoplasma yang mempunyai banyak mitokondria dan konsentrasi enzim oksidatif yang tinggi. Onkosit bersifat jinak tetapi dapat mengalami transformasi menjadi ganas.

Tumor yang terbentuk oleh jaringan onkosit dapat terjadi di berbagai tempat seperti kelenjar tiroid, hipofisis, korteks adrenal, pankreas, saluran pencernaan dan paru.[1]

Onkosit pada kelenjar tiroid sering disebut sel Hurthle, sedangkan pada kelenjar payudara disebut metaplasia apokrin.
