Ostracoda adalah kelas dari anggota hewan tak bertulang belakang yang termasuk dalam filum Arthropoda, subfilum Crustacea.[1] Hewan ini umumnya berukuran sekitar 1 mm, tetapi kisarannya mulai dari 0,2 – 30 mm. hewan ini hidup di laut sebagai zooplankton. Alat geraknya berupa antena. Ostracoda hidup sebagai zooplankton, tetapi sebagian besar hidup sebagai bentos yang melekat di dasar perairan. Terdapat 70,000 spesies (hanya 13,000 yang masih hidup) yang sudah diidentifikasi,[2] misalnya Aboilia sp.
