Phakisa Freeway adalah sebuah motor sirkuit balap yang terletak di antara Welkom dan Odendaalsrus, Afrika Selatan. Ini adalah salah satu dari sedikit speedway oval di luar Amerika Serikat dan satu-satunya di Afrika.

Sejarah

Phakisa Freeway dibangun di lokasi yang sama dengan bekas Goldfields Raceway, yang ditutup pada tahun 1997.[1]

Trek saat ini dibuka pada tahun 1999.[2] Terdiri dari lintasan sepanjang 4,24 km dan lintasan 24-kilometer (15 mi) oval.[2] Jalur jalan raya menggunakan jalur pit oval sebagai garis belakang lurus dan melintasi garis belakang oval dua kali. Jalur oval mirip dengan Las Vegas Motor Speedway dalam konfigurasi 1997: 12 derajat menikung di belokan, sembilan derajat di tri-oval dan tiga derajat di bentangan belakang.[2] Itu dibangun untuk menarik balap oval Amerika seperti NASCAR atau IndyCar.
