Pilegesh
Pilegesh (Ibrani: פִּילֶגֶשׁ) adalah sebuah istilah Ibrani untuk seorang gundik dengan pendirian sosial dan hukum serupa dengan istri sah, sering kali untuk tujuan menghasilkan keturunan. Taurat membedakan gundik dan para istri muda dengan awalan "kepada" (contohnya "mengambil kepada para istri").[1]
Etimologi
Istilah pilegesh merupakan lakuran Indo-Eropa terkait kata bahasa Yunani Kuno: παλλακίς pallakis, artinya gundik.[2][3][4]
Dalam bahasa Ibrani Modern, pilegesh sering dipakai untuk mengartikan "wanita simpanan", yakni pasangan perempuan dalam hubungan di luar pernikahan bahkan saat hubungan tersebut tak memiliki pengakuan hukum.
