Pilus
Pilus adalah struktur berbentuk seperti rambut halus yang menonjol dari dinding sel. Pilus mirip dengan flagelum tetapi lebih pendek, kaku, dan berdiameter lebih kecil. Pilus tersusun dari protein. Pilus berfungsi sebagai penghubung saat bakteri melakukan konjugasi (pertukaran materi genetik). Selain itu, pilus juga berfungsi sebagai pelekat antara sel bakteri yang satu dengan sel bakteri lainnya. Pilus hanya terdapat pada bakteri Gram negatif, contohnya Escherichia coli.
