Planum Boreum
Planum Boreum (Latin: "dataran utara") adalah dataran yang terletak di kutub utara planet Mars. Dataran ini tebentang ke utara dari 80°N dan berpusat di 88°00′N 15°00′E / 88.0°N 15.0°E. Dataran ini dikelilingi oleh dataran rendah yang disebut Vastitas Borealis.
Di Planum Boreum terdapat lapisan es permanen yang terdiri dari es air (dan es karbon dioksida setebal 1 m selama musim dingin).[1] Volume lapisan tersebut tercatat sebesar 1,2 juta kilometer kubik dan meliputi wilayah seluas 1,5 kali Texas. Jari-jarinya diperkirakan sebesar 600 km. Kedalaman maksimal lapisan ini 3 km.[2]
