Prawujud Yesus

Allah beristirahat setelah penciptaan - Yesus digambarkan sebagai pencipta dunia, mozaik Bizantium di Monreale, Sisilia. Penggambaran Allah Bapa baru menjadi umum pada abad ke-15, dan Yesus sering ditampilkan sebagai substitut sebelum itu.[1]

Doktrin pra-keberadaan Yesus menegaskan keberadaan ontologi atau pribadi Yesus sebelum kelahirannya. Salah satu firman Alkitab yang relevan adalah Yohanes 1:1–18 di mana, dalam interpretasi Trinitarian, Yesus diidentifikasikan dengan hipotasis ilahi pra-eksisten yang disebut Logos atau Firman. Dari pandangan non-Trinitarian, terdapat pandangan yang mempertanyakan aspek pra-keberadaan pribadi, atau aspek ilahi, atau keduanya.

Doktrin tersebut direiterasikan dalam Yohanes 17:5 ketika Yesus merujuk kepada kemenangan di mana ia telah ada dengan Bapa "sebelum dunia" pada amanat Perpisahan.[2] Yohanes 17:24 juga menyebut Bapa mencintai Yesus "sebelum pembentukan dunia".[2]
