Purnawirawan

Purnawirawan (disingkat Purn.) adalah sebuah gelar untuk para pensiunan prajurit, baik TNI[1] maupun Polri[2] yang sudah tidak aktif lagi di dalam dinas kemiliteran atau kepolisian. Gelar ini berbeda dengan veteran, karena gelar veteran hanya diberikan kepada para prajurit yang pernah mengikuti pertempuran kemerdekaan. Proses pensiun juga di anggap sebagai salah satu penyebab turunnya status sosial ekonomi individu di dalam lingkungan masyarakat. Aturan mengenai pensiun tidak hanya berlaku pada lembaga atau institusi yang menghasilkan produk berupa barang maupun pelayanan.
