Reaktor A1W


Reaktor A1W adalah reaktor nuklir prototipe yang digunakan oleh Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat untuk menyediakan pembangkit listrik dan propulsi pada kapal perang.

Penamaan singkatan A1W:

  • A = Platform Kapal induk
  • 1 = inti generasi Pertama dirancang oleh kontraktor
  • W = Westinghouse adalah desainer kontraktor

Reaktor nuklir ini adalah prototipe untuk reaktor A2W yang digunakan dalam kapal induk bertenaga nuklir di dunia, USS Enterprise (CVN-65).

Prototipe A1W digunakan untuk melatih para pelaut nuklir memenuhi syarat untuk hampir 34 tahun sampai instalasi reaktor yang ditutup pada 26 Januari 1994.
