Lambang Rheinland

Rheinland (bahasa Jerman: Rheinland, bahasa Prancis: Rhénanie) adalah nama yang digunakan untuk kawasan yang kurang terdefinisi di Jerman bagian barat di sepanjang Sungai Rhine, terutama bagian tengahnya.

Istilah

Provinsi Rhein (hijau) pada 1830 disertai dengan batas-batas modern.

Pada zaman dahulu, Rheinland[1] merujuk (secara fisik) kepada sebuah kawasan yang kurang terdefinisi yang meliputi daratan pada tepi Sungai Rhine di Eropa Tengah, yang didiami oleh Frank Ripuaria dan Salia dan menjadi bagian dari Frank Austrasia. Pada Abad Pertengahan Tinggi, sejumlah Negara Kekaisaran di sepanjang sungai tersebut terbentuk dari bekas kadipaten stem Lotharingia, tanpa mengembangkan identitas politik atau kebudayaan apapun.
