Robert Melancton Metcalfe (lahir 7 April, 1946)[2][3] adalah seorang insinyur dan pengusaha Amerika yang membantu merintis Internet mulai tahun 1970. Dia ikut menemukan Ethernet, ikut mendirikan 3Com, dan merumuskan Hukum Metcalfe, yang menjelaskan pengaruh jaringan telekomunikasi. Sejak Januari 2011, dia telah menjadi profesor inovasi dan kewirausahaan di Universitas Texas di Austin. Dia juga Murchison Fellow dari Free Enterprise.[4]

Metcalfe telah menerima berbagai penghargaan, termasuk IEEE Medal of Honor dan National Medal of Technology and Innovation atas karyanya mengembangkan teknologi Ethernet. Pada tahun 2023, dia menerima Turing Award, penghargaan tertinggi dalam ilmu komputer.
