Robert Owen (14 Mei 1771 – 17 November 1858) adalah pemikir utama sosialisme utopis, dia adalah seorang pelaku bisnis sukses yang menyumbangkan banyak laba dari bisnisnya demi peningkatan hidup karyawannya. Dia dianggap sebagai "Bapak" gerakan koperasi.
Dia mendirikan suatu pabrik tekstil di New Lanark, Skotlandia dan memperkenalkan waktu kerja lebih pendek, membangun sekolah untuk anak-anak dan merenovasi rumah-rumah tempat tinggal pegawainya.
Ia juga menyediakan suatu komunitas Owenite yg disebut New Harmony (Keselarasan Baru) di Indiana, AS.
Kontribusi utama Owen ke pikiran kaum sosialis adalah pandangan yang di mana perilaku sosial manusia tidaklah tetap atau absolut, dan manusia itu mempunyai kemauan bebas untuk mengorganisasi diri mereka ke dalam segala bentuk masyarakat yg mereka inginkan.
