Roberto Bolaño Ávalos (28 April 1953 – 15 Juli 2003) adalah seorang novelis Chili, penulis cerita pendek, penyair dan penulis esai. Pada tahun 1999, Bolaño memenangkan Hadiah Rómulo Gallegos untuk novelnya Los detektif salvajes (Detektif Savage), dan pada tahun 2008 ia secara anumerta dianugerahi Penghargaan Lingkaran Kritik Buku Nasional untuk Fiksi untuk novelnya 2666, yang digambarkan oleh anggota dewan Marcela Valdes sebagai sebuah "karya yang begitu kaya dan memesona sehingga pasti akan menarik pembaca dan cendekiawan selama berabad-abad".[1]
