Roystonea adalah genus yang terdiri atas 11 spesies palem monoecious (berumah satu), yang berasal dari Kepulauan Karibia, dan pantai yang berdekatan di Amerika Serikat (Florida), Amerika Tengah, dan sisi utara dari Amerika Selatan.[3][4][5] Umumnya genus ini dikenal sebagai palem raja, dan genus ini dinamai menurut seorang insinyur Angkatan Darat Amerika Serikat, Roy Stone.
