SMP Negeri 1 Srono, merupakan salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri yang ada di Provinsi Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Sama dengan SMP pada umumnya di Indonesia masa pendidikan sekolah di SMPN 1 Srono ditempuh dalam waktu tiga tahun pelajaran, mulai dari Kelas VII sampai Kelas IX.
Sejarah
SMP Negeri Srono berdiri pada tanggal 9 Oktober 1982 dengan Surat keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia nomor: 0299/0/1982 yang merupakan Filial dari SMP Negeri Benculuk dengan dipimpin oleh seorang Kepala Sekolah:
- Abdul Wahid, BA (Kepala SMP Negeri Benculuk 1982)
- Soekemi, BA (Kepala SMP Negeri Srono 1982-1983)
Bertempat di gedung SD Sukonatar I
Pada tahun 1983 SMP Negeri Srono mempunyai seorang Kepala Sekolah difinitif yang bernama: Utomo, BA (Promosi dari Guru SMEP Banyuwangi). Pada tahun 1984 SMP Negeri Srono telah mempunyai Gedung sendiri yang bertempat di: Jalan Raya Srono Desa Sukonatar, Kecamatan Srono. Pada tahun 1989 SMP nama Negeri Srono diubah menjadi SMP Negeri 1 Srono dengan Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan nomor: 0507/0/1989 tanggal 24 Agustus 2009 tentang Perubahan Bama Sekolah di Provinsi Jawa Timur. SMP Negeri 1 Srono dijadikan Sekolah Standar Nasional (SSN) pada tahun 2004-2005 dengan SK penetapan nomor: 867a/C3/Kep/2005
