Latar belakang
Sam Trammell lahir di New Orleans, Louisiana.[1][2] Ia bertemu dengan aktris Missy Yager pada tahun 2003 ketika tampil di teater di New York.[3] Ia dan Missy memiliki putra kembar, Gus dan Winston, pada tanggal 9 Agustus 2011.[3]
