Saturniidae adalah sebuah famili Lepidoptera yang diperkirakan beranggotakan sekitar 2300 spesies.[1] Famili ini mencakup beberapa spesies ngengat terbesar di dunia. Anggota-anggota terkenal mencakup ngengat kaisar, ngengat royal, dan ngengat sutra raksasa.

Dewasanya dicirikan oleh sayap bersar belobus, tubuh berat yang tertutup oleh sisik-sisik mirip rambut, dan bagian mulut yang kecil. Mereka tidak memiliki frenulum, tetapi sayap belakangnya bertumpang tindih dengan sayap depannya, sehingga permukaan sayapnya tampak tidak terpisah.[2] Ngengat Saturniidae terkadang berwarna cerah dan memiliki bintik mata tembus pandang ("jendela") di sayapnya. Dimorfisme seksual bervariasi sesuai spesiesnya, tetapi umumnya jantan memiliki antena yang lebih besar dan lebar.

Sebagian besar dewasa memiliki rentang sayap di antara 1–6 in (2,5–15,2 cm), tetapi beberapa spesies tropis seperti kupu-kupu gajah memiliki rentang sayap hingga 12 in (30 cm). Bersama dengan beberapa jenis Noctuidae, Saturniidae mencakup jenis-jenis Lepidoptera terbesar sekaligus jenis serangga terbesar yang masih hidup.
