Shivaji Bhosale (lahir:19 Februari 1627, Meninggal: 3 April 1680), umumnya disebut Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (bahasa Marathi: छत्रपती शिवाजीराजे भोसले) adalah pendiri Kekaisaran Maratha. Ayahnya, Shahaji adalah jendral Maratha yang bekerja untuk Kesultanan Bijapur, Kesultanan Dekkan dan Mughal.[3] Shivaji dengan ideologi Hindavi Swaraj (kebebasan Hindustan) memilih berevolusi melawan Kesultanan Bijapur untuk mendirikan Marāṭhā Sāmrājya atau Kekaiasaran Maratha. Terinspirasi untuk merestorasi kejayaan yang ada selama era kekaisaran Vijayanagara, Shivaji berhasil menguasai banyak wilayah di India barat selama kekuasaannya.[4] Pada puncak kejayaannya, Maratha menguasai hampir seluruh India modern.
