Sitokinesis

Sitokinesis adalah bagian dari proses pembelahan sel, yaitu sitoplasma dari satu eukariotik sel membelah menjadi dua sel anak. Pembagian sitoplasma [1]dimulai selama atau setelah tahap akhir dari pembelahan inti dalam mitosis dan meiosis. Selama sitokinesis benang gelendong berpisah dan mengangkut kromatid yang digandakan ke dalam sitoplasma sel anak yang sudah terpisah. Hal ini untuk memastikan bahwa jumlah dan kelengkapan kromosom tetap terjaga dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya. Umumnya sel anak akan akan merupakan salinan fungsional dari sel induk, kecuali dalam kasus tertentu. Setelah selesai telofase dan sitokinesis setiap anak sel memasuki interfase dari siklus sel.
