Spesies hipotetik
Beberapa spesies telah diasumsikan hadir, tetapi karena kurangnya bukti fisik, mereka hanya dianggap sebagai spesies potensial. Spesies hipotetik biasanya diyakini punah. Spesies-spesies ini telah menyebabkan kebingungan, karena mereka daapt berupa spesies yang berbeda, subspesies, spesies pendatang, atau sebuah misidentifikasi.[1] Istilah ini juga dapat merujuk kepada spesies yang dihipotesiskan telah hadir secara evolusioner.
