Stegodontidae adalah famili Proboscidea yang mirip-Stegodon yang pernah menjadi hewan endemik Afrika dan Asia dari kala Miocene (15.97 mya)[1] sampai Pleistosen Akhir, dengan beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beberapa selamat sampai Holosen di Tiongkok (sampai 4.1 ribu tahun lalu sekarang),[2] meskipun ini diperdebatkan.[3]

Taksonomi

Stegodontidae dinamai oleh Osborn (1918).[4][5]
