Tanzimat

Dekrit Gulhane

Tanzimât (bahasa Turki Utsmaniyah: تنظيمات), secara harfiah berarti reorganisasi Kesultanan Utsmaniyah (Kekaisaran Ottoman), merupakan suatu periode reformasi yang diawali pada tahun 1839 dan berakhir dengan dimulainya Era Konstitusional Pertama pada tahun 1876.[1] Era reformasi Tanzimât ditandai dengan adanya berbagai upaya untuk memodernisasi Kesultanan Utsmaniyah dan mengamankan integritas teritorialnya terhadap gerakan-gerakan nasionalis dari dalam dan kekuatan agresif dari luar negara tersebut. Reformasi ini mendorong paham Ottomanisme di antara berbagai kelompok etnis yang beragam di Kesultanan Utsmaniyah dan berupaya untuk membendung gelombang gerakan-gerakan nasionalis di dalam Kesultanan Utsmaniyah.

Reformasi ini berusaha untuk memberikan emansipasi terhadap subjek-subjek non-Muslim di Kesultanan Utsmaniyah dan mengintegrasikan orang non-Turki secara lebih menyeluruh ke dalam masyarakat Utsmaniyah dengan meningkatkan hak mereka sebagai penduduk dan memberikan mereka kesetaraan di seluruh kekaisaran tersebut.
