Telegraf listrik
Telegraf listrik adalah sebuah telegraf yang menggunakan sinyal listrik. Meski beberapa sistem seperti "jarum" Britania digunakan pada tahun 1830-an, sistem praktis yang pertama dibuat pada tahun 1844 oleh Samuel Finley Breese Morse dan dapat mengirimkam pesan dalam jarak panjang menggunakan kabel berkualitas rendah. Samuel F. B. Morse juga membuat alfabet Morse untuk penggunaan alat ini.
