Tembok Demokrasi

Dari November 1978 sampai Desember 1979, ribuan orang memasang "poster-poster karakter besar" di tembok bata panjang di Jalan Xidan, Distrik Xicheng, Beijing, untuk berunjuk rasa terhadap masalah politik dan sosial di Tiongkok. Di bawah naungan pemerintah Tiongkok, jenis lain dari kegiatan unjuk rasa, seperti jurnal tak resmi, petisi dan demonstrasi, juga kemudian menyebar di kota-kota besar Tiongkok. Gerakan tersebut dipandang sebagai permulaan gerakan demokrasi Tiongkok. Kegiatan ini juga dikenal sebagai "Gerakan Tembok Demokrasi". Periode singkat dari pembebasan politik tersebut dikenal sebagai "Kebangkitan Beijing".
