Orang Trakia

Seorang peltastes Trakia.

Suku Trakia (/ˈθrʃənz/; bahasa Yunani Kuno: Θρᾷκες Thrāikes, bahasa Latin: Thraci) adalah suku bangsa Indo-Eropa yang pernah menetap di wilayah Eropa Timur dan Tenggara.[1] Mereka menuturkan bahasa Trakia - salah satu bahasa Indo-Eropa yang tidak banyak diketahui. Penelitian suku dan budaya Trakia disebut trakologi.

Asal-usul suku bangsa Trakia masih misterius akibat ketiadaan catatan sejarah tertulis. Bukti keberadaan kebudayaan proto-Trakia pada masa prasejarah didapat dari artefak-artefak yang telah ditemukan oleh arkeolog. Leo Klejn berpendapat bahwa budaya proto-Trakia merupakan kebudayaan Babyno yang terusir dari Ukraina akibat perluasan wilayah kebudayaan Srubna. Terdapat pula hipotesis bahwa suku bangsa proto-Trakia merupakan campuran penduduk asli dan orang-orang Proto-Indo-Eropa pada zaman perunggu awal. Pada zaman besi (sekitar tahun 1000 SM), suku bangsa Dacia dan Trakia mulai muncul dari suku bangsa proto-Trakia.[2]
