Tepi tenun

Tepi tenun adalah tepi "selesai sendiri" dari sepotong kain yang menjaganya agar tidak terurai dan berjumbai. [1] [2] Istilah "selesai sendiri" berarti bahwa bagian tepinya tidak memerlukan pekerjaan finishing tambahan, seperti kelim atau kain serong, untuk mencegah keretakan.

Pada kain tenun, tepi tenun adalah bagian tepi yang sejajar dengan lungsin (benang memanjang yang membentang di sepanjang kain), dan dibuat oleh benang pakan yang dilingkarkan ke belakang di akhir setiap baris. Pada kain rajutan, tepi tenun adalah tepi yang belum selesai tetapi kokoh secara struktural yang tidak dicetak atau diikat. [3] [4] Secara historis, istilah tepi tenun hanya diterapkan pada kain tenun tenun, tetapi kini dapat diterapkan pada kain rajutan datar.
