The Phantom of the Opera (bahasa Prancis: Le Fantôme de l'Opéra), adalah sebuah novel novel karya penulis Prancis Gaston Leroux. Pertama kali dipublikasikan sebagai serial pada Le Gaulois dari 23 September 1909 sampai 8 Januari 1910. Dipublikasikan dalam bentuk volume pada akhir Maret 1910 oleh Pierre Lafitte.[1] Novel ini sebagian terinspirasi dari sebuah kejadian bersejarah pada Opera Paris selama abad kesembilanbelas dan dongeng apokrif mengingat penggunaan tengkorak mantan balet pupil pada produksi Carl Maria von Weber tahun 1841 yakni Der Freischütz.[2] Novel ini sukses diadaptasi menjadi berbagai acara panggung dan adaptasi film, yang paling berkesan adalah penggambaran film tahun 1925 dibintangi Lon Chaney, dan karya Andrew Lloyd Webber untuk musikal tahun 1986.
