The Sound of Music adalah sandiwara panggung Broadway. Musikal ini dibuat menjadi film tahun 1965.
Adaptasi
Cerita yang dibuat dalam film sudah mengalami berbagai adaptasi dari cerita aslinya. Beberapa adaptasi tersebut adalah:
- Maria sebenarnya dikirim untuk merawat salah satu anaknya yang terkena skarlatina (scarlet fever), bukan untuk mengasuh seluruh anaknya. Penyakit ini juga telah membunuh Agathe, istri pertama sang Kapten.
- Nama asli dari anak-anak Von Trapp adalah Maria, Rupert, Agathe, Werner, Hedwig, Johanna, dan Martina.
- Sebenarnya, keluarga Von Trapp tidak langsung mengungsi melainkan hidup beberapa tahun di Austria, dan mereka kabur ke Italia yang kemudian berlanjut ke Amerika Serikat, bukan ke Swiss.
