Toutatis
Toutatis atau Teutates adalah dewa Kelt yang dipuja di Galia dan Britania kuno. Nama "Teutates" berasal dari kata teutā- yang berarti "rakyat" atau "suku".[1] Berdasarkan asal-usul nama dewa ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ia dianggap sebagai pelindung suku.[2]
Ia adalah salah satu dari tiga dewa Kelt yang disebutkan oleh penyair Romawi Lucan pada abad ke-1 M.[3] Menurut catatan sejarah, korban-korban dipersembahkan kepada Teutates dengan diceburkan dengan kepala terlebih dahulu ke dalam cairan yang tidak diketahui.[4]
Prasasti dengan nama Teutates telah ditemukan di Britania Raya, seperti di Cumberland Quarries (RIB 1017) yang dipersembahkan untuk Yupiter Optimus Maximus dan Mars Teutates.[5]
Saat ini, ia dikenal dengan nama "Toutatis" berkat seruan "Demi Toutatis" yang diciptakan oleh Goscinny dan Uderzo dalam buku komik Asterix .
