Tran Van Don

Pada nama Vietnam ini, nama keluarga-nya adalah Trần, namun seringkali disederhanakan menjadi Tran dalam teks bahasa Inggris. Menurut kebiasaan Vietnam, tokoh ini dipanggil dengan nama pemberian-nya Đôn.

Trần Văn Đôn (lahir 1917, Bordeaux, Prancis) merupakan seorang jenderal di Tentara Republik Vietnam, dan salah satu figur dari kudeta yang menggulingkan Ngô Đình Diệm dari jabatannya sebagai presiden Vietnam Selatan.

Kiprah politik

Pada tahun 1965, Đôn terpilih dan diangkat menjadi Senat pada tahun 1967 setelah mendapatkan peringkat teratas dalam pemilihan. Selanjutnya ia diangkat menjadi menteri pertahanan, pada tanggal 29 April 1975, mengusir Amerika Serikat satu hari sebelum jatuhnya Saigon.
