Ultra vires
Ultra vires adalah istilah Latin yang berarti "di luar kuasa". Apabila suatu tindakan dilakukan dengan landasan hukum yang tepat, maka tindakan tersebut merupakan tindakan intra vires ("di dalam kuasa"). Namun, jika tindakan tersebut dilakukan tanpa adanya landasan hukum, maka tindakan itu adalah tindakan ultra vires. Tindakan intra vires dianggap sah, sementara tindakan ultra vires dinyatakan tidak sah.
Sebagai contoh, perusahaan dan badan hukumnya memiliki kapasitas hukum yang terbatas, dan jika mereka bertindak di luar kapasitas tersebut, maka mereka bertindak ultra vires.
