Sood lahir di Kenya. Ayahnya adalah seorang dokter dan ibunya seorang perawat.[2] Saudaranya, Manoj Sood juga seorang aktor, sementara sepupunya, Ashwin Sood, adalah seorang musisi.[3] Keponakannya, Kama Sood, adalah seorang pembuat film yang berbasis di Vancouver, BC.[4]
