Verdana adalah sebuah rupa huruf tanpa kait humanis yang dirancang oleh Matthew Carter untuk Microsoft Corporation, dengan pengujian fon dilaksanakan oleh Thomas Rickner dan dilakukan kembali di Monotype. Permintaan rupa huruf seperti ini pertama ditanggapi oleh Virginia Howlett dari grup tipografi Microsoft. Nama "Verdana" diambil dari gabungan kata verdant (seseuatu yang hijau), dan Ana (nama putri sulung Howlett).[1]
